Mark Goodenberger, Marimba Signature Series

MBGG1 & MRGG1, The Goodenberger “G-Line Mix” is a heavy weight set of six mallets to mix and match.  Allowing the player to mix four different hardnesses, this set is like owning multiple sets of four – in ONE!

Included are one (1)oversized deep bass mallet, two (2)medium tenor mallets, two (2) medium hard alto mallets, and one(1) clear hard soprano mallet.

Providing a mellow and dark tone throughout, the Goodenberger series allows the performer to move from a soft/medium set to a med/hard mix of four while still maintaining its character and tone.  With six realistic combinations, the “G-Line Mix” enables the marimbist a vast tonal depth and articulation, making finding soulmates for repertoire as easy as mix and match.

Reflecting the mixture of articulations, the G-Line is wrapped with three different colors of wool and nylon blend yarn.  They represent the natural landscape of the earth, sky and clouds that surround Ellensburg, WA in the great Pacific Northwest.

Handles come in a choice of non-slip, cherry-satin finish maple or a new, stronger 9.0mm rattan.  Both choices are 16” in length and all feature a starburst trim on the top. Handles are numbered from 1-6 to help the player organize their mix.

The G-Line Mix was created for marimba soloist, Mark Goodenberger, who needed a wide array of articulations for a concerto premiere with chamber orchestra.  With many mallet changes in the piece necessary, Mark wanted the unity of matching mallets with the flexibility of a mixed set.  Thus, the G-Line Mix was created!
